my new page marks the beginning of a new scene, which is fun. a fresh start within the scope a larger story. i’ve always had trouble being the kind of artist who can stick with a project. not for laziness, but cause a new idea or interest would draw my attention, and screw up my follow through. but now, taking my own idea all the way through, from soup to nuts, i get that chance every scene, every page. not only am i not getting bored, i’m getting more jazzed about what i can do next. then again, it’s been less than a year. so, i shouldn’t pat myself on the head too furiously.

lately i went on a david lynch bender, and watched a few of his less linear flicks. left a trail of breadcrumbs and found my way back. for the most part, all it did is make me want to go watch Blue Velvet again.

‘Blue Velvet (1986)’

Blue Velvet kinda feels like a throwback to a small town time, where everyone is in a young man’s business, mixed with a sadistic ether huffing nut-job gangster. all the actors were great, but it’s denis hopper who really stole scenes with his over the top Frank Booth. if you haven’t seen this movie, give it a go. it’s very much worth your time.

and for the record, think lynch has does some good work, but i appreciate him more when he’s not being surreal. seems like the kind of director who when not reigned in a little, will make shows about, oh i don’t know, backwards midgets and pie… and red curtained rooms….
