Ivar the Boneless (fictionalized in Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories, I think the TV version is Lords of the North) always comes to mind when I hear that name. Neither Ivar could walk well, but each escaped danger upon a conveyance of metal and was tied to a dark, inconstant witch.

I was first introduced to him in Vikings. Damned good show! I think the writers handled his (supposed) handicap well! Highly recommended.
