Jingoism here drives me nuts sometimes. As if I needed to be reminded of where I’m living…
All my neighbors have guns. I have a bat. And a slingshot which I do rather well with, even without my glasses.
Free healthcare would be nice! And, really, if you count what our job version of health insurance costs and add the payroll taxes, our tax rate is prob 50%, so the difference is acceptable.
Meran, I’m from Canada. I left in the 1970s. A recent fellow immigrant to one of the States’ poorest places recently confided to me that he and his wife are having real difficulty affording a house here, and they lived in a pretty nice place. Not Toronto area real estate values, but pretty wealthy. Just saying. But if you like paying 23% tax on everything as a baseline … well, nature in Canada is beautiful and off rez substance abuse rates are a lot lower, despite all the aggressive pot promotion.
When one visits foreign countries, one tends to go to the coolest places, but ask Chicagoans how often they actually see first run plays, or New Yorkers if they bask in the glories of their museums very often. Consider the move carefully. And yes, you could do far, FAR worse than Canada. Though in far, FAR worse Ghana the EU will still pay you to tear up your chocolocate plants if they’re of a certain age, so, you know, there’s that. And, still in Ghana, both albinos and people with prominent vitiligo sell at higher prices due to their magical properties.
You know, I only disliked 2 Canadians, they were mean. All the others were quite personable! Even those who relocated in the US still kept their manners, weren’t affected by their neighbors.
So you’re in the States? General area? I’m in Oregon.
well, we’d love to have you. it’s a lot like the states, from what i’ve seen. cept less guns, more free health care, and we don’t plaster our flag on every flat surface we can find. (:

I suspect the housing market in Deep Blue is about to crash due to a flood of inventory.

You know, I think I’d move to Canada, if I was still working. As it is, I’d even move to this place, wherever it is. At least there are choices!
