Schlock Mercenary, while being a completely different style of webcomic from yours, is quite good and very long running. The Maxims are from its writer and constantly referenced by the mercenaries who serve as its main characters. While the comic works hard to not be too serious with constant slapstick, the Maxims are all pretty solid.
Always remember Maxim 49. Every client is one missed payment away from becoming a target and every target is one bribe away from becoming a client.
