As your fellow Canadian (left for the States as a tot because of this PM’s horrific father, this guy is comparatively decent, but naturalized young so I have dual passports), I couldn’t tell you were one of us.
The rural/urban divide seems far stronger in Canada than in the States from what I read, even around the Golden Horseshoe, but, eh, whatcha gonna do?
One of the many ironies of this American President, the first to lose money while in the White House instead of becoming quite wealthy, is that he significantly increased the wealth of the second and third quintiles as opposed to the top, like by a lot. He’s got a very different act in his public persona than anyone since maybe Grover Cleveland or the first Johnson, though he’s a lot less vulgar than the US President who threw Prime Minister Lester Pearson against a wall, but the press was different in LBJ’s day.

yup. i’m a canuck. i wasn’t hiding it, i just tried not to ‘go there’ for no reason. talking about being canadian with americans can sometimes be more dividing than it oughta be. especially with politics.

i’ve never heard anyone express any displeasure with PET before. i mean, it’s fine, i’m sure your family had their reasons, but he seems to be held quite universally in high regard with people i’ve heard from. his son, maybe not as much. but that’s as much about the times in which we live, as anything else. you could run a bowl of poutine on a platform of free handjobs, and if you called it liberal, people would lose their gosh darn minds.

but i’ve been keeping up with US politics. i was surprised to see trump’s bottom line diminish as well, cause it seemed to be uber important to him that it didn’t. but like you said, it’s an irony.

Yeah, there were ~many problems, socially. This is, I believe, inky 7 yrs after the initial boarding took place.
I can tell you’re Canadian 😁… I cab easily see that here in the States. Ppl with money will NOT share, when they’re like our Illustrious Potato Head president. (Have you read guys nieces book yet? I’m halfway thru. It’s a manual for how to get under DT’s skin. )(can you imagine HIM and his brood ever sharing space in a giant train?)

I kept looking at the train (I was an engineer in a past life). I figured it was about 4 storeys tall (40 ft). I imagine some may be a bit taller, like the greencars.) And then there is there one that had its own small subway!! I haven’t checked out the Build Your Own Car site yet. Gotta beg for the Best Computer In The House. They lost 7 cars, I believe.

Oh, and I was checking out every map in the show for there oath. Finally found it but I’d like some background on just WHY they didn’t build it alongside the equator.

I swear I edited that! It’s not an oath, its a path.
Other than that, you can prob figure it out. My phone is SOOO much smaller than an ipad. I can’t see the whole message in order to properly “edit”.

you can tell i’m canadian by my take on class disparity? i think we have a lot of the same issues as the states, if only cause we share your media, and such a large border, but i think some of the issues are to a lesser extent. we’re seeing that play out in real time with the pandemic. some twitter guy put it best. he said he owes an apology to ever horror director he called out for making a character walk down to the murder basement as ‘unrealistic’. and we do have those people too, but i don’t know any. everyone i know is being super cautious, thankfully.

i read the bullet points of mary trump’s book, and the summary of the tidbits. i don’t disbelieve any of it, really, but i feel like we’re reviewing the same old material at this point. as though we don’t have enough information to come up with a clear picture of the man. i’ve read a few of the books about him. and after a while, it seems like nothing is really giving us new information. i feel like i could write a trump story at this point, that would be indistinguishable from the reality. he’s a comic book villian at this point, after all.

as for the path of snowpiercer, i’m curious about that…. how could it go in a continuous line without going into the ocean? had the ocean froze when they built the track? there’s a game i quite enjoy called frostpunk. it’s a city building sim, where you’re the governor of a community, huddled around a massive generator as the world freezes. it’s makes snowpiercer seem like a happy go lucky love story. check it out, even if just for the visuals. it’s a gorgeous game.

What did you think of Snowpiercer’s season finale??? (I can barely believe how fast this show moves, even though I watched it every week. )

Will you be watching The Alienist?

first i’m hearing of the alienist. i’ll have to look into it.

as for snowpiercer, i didn’t know the last episode was the finale, but it seems like a good stopping point for the season. overall i thought it was well done, and the world seemed a lot more fleshed out than in the movie. if i had any real bone to pick, and it’s minor, i never understood how in a post apocalyptic world, you would still have people obeying the caste system. i mean, a warlord who bands a community together with politics and charisma? i get that. but the rich people in the front of the train seemed to wield a lot of power, while offering very little. they talked about how they were investors, back in the day. but i don’t see why after years, people would still be slaving away for them. i get though that that’s a crucial part of the story, i just didn’t buy the motivation to cater to them. whereas the hospitality lady and the head of the jackboots moving up, that made sense. they were integral. might be an interesting story development to see them move into rich digs, and become fat and lazy, while some of the people in first are scrubbing toilets.

      how did you like it?
