what. a. week……
i can’t imagine how exhausted my american friends are this week. watching the election from afar, and for the last year, even from canada, i feel drained. (i’m in canada, for those who didn’t know)
whether you’re happy with the results or not, and this isn’t the place for that, it’s most likely been a trying time for all of you. so, i purged my brain, and this is what came out. i found it to be sort of therapeutic. it is what it is. a random swirl of free association that i thought i would share with you. there’s lots of stuff here, you could spend some time just picking through it all, but it is my brain, so wipe your shoes off before you enter, please.
pretty busy lately, working some extra art gigs, but soon i’m gonna launch a patreon site. i know, i know, i said i would never do that, but, i think i can figure a way to makeĀ it so i give something back. this will include access to early posts, concept art, and rough panels months in advance, and also, what i hope catches on, a suggestion level, where some patrons tell me what they would like to see in a speed painting, i draw it, and they keep the results for fun, or for an avatar for something. i mean, i’m always drawing anyways, why not do it for the fans?
so keep an eye out for that soon, and America…. have a few beers this weekend in a fun and responsible way. you’ve earned it.
From “long ago,” I remember some Canadian history, vaguely. One of the PMs had a thick accent, and while on his reelection tour, he was heard to say, “I’ve been shitting up in Ottawa, and I aim to go back and pick up the turd.”
Oh, if only we had presidents like that! No, we have what we have. I looked at one, looked at the other, and voted for a third party. I knew the candidate wouldn’t win, but I was hoping that this time around there would be enough that the third party candidates would have enough popular votes to get federal campaign financing. Maybe next time, who knows?
haha, we’ve had a couple interesting prime ministers.
but we have our issues too. one of the things that’s very similar, is that it seems to always come down to a choice between 2 candidates, so i can relate to your frustration about that.
Hey Fellow Canadian!
Where you from?
toronto. born and bred. stomping ground of rob ford. so we know a little something of ‘colourful politics’
how bout you?
Hahaha, that guy made me laugh a couple of times. Montreal, so you can say we share a ”colourful politics” too but our not that funny…
yeah, he was good for a laugh, if you didn’t live here.
haven’t been to montreal in years, but i remember it being nice. i don’t speak any french, so it’s a little trickier. haha
Re the politics we’re not supposed to be talking about here: If your side won, please reach out to the people who you know who are not on your side and just do some meaningful gesture of friendship. When the “discussion” was as charged as it was this election, people are even more on edge than they would normally be about the result. They’ve been fed a constant diet of fear about what could happen if this exact event were to unfold. So help them realize that you are a good person and they are valued and cared about and that maybe they can not worry about some of the more apocalyptic things they’ve been told about your side.
I’ll guarantee that you will feel better after doing this, or I’ll give you back twice the money you paid to read this comment.
it’s that rarest of beast, the constructively polite comment! and i think that’s what it comes down to lately. people are very on the edge. and that makes everyone quick to react, slow to relate.
i will say, i feel better when i don’t read comment sections on articles or videos. the vocal minority are the edge of the edge. nothing productive happens there.
Pfftt! Eyes-cream *giggles*
Thanks for the kind words. The last beers have been had. We need to stay sober for the next little while to keep an eye on what’s coming. I’m gonna go have a close look at that picture now and dissect your brain!
no problem. well, it won’t be a boring time, but then again, boredom might be nice for a change.
