mixed bag on this post. i was really planning on trying to hit the fan expo this year, have a booth, shake some sweaty hands (like, zero air current at these things) but it doesn’t look like that might happen. we bought a house instead. that wasn’t an A or B decision, choose your own adventure, turn to page 46 if you’d rather own a house, just one of those time management things. and with my real job, my comic job, and my new job as caretaker of the creepy old clarke estate, i might not have time for things like conventions. hey, something has to give. i’m considering giving up this sleep thing. i mean, i don’t do it that much anyways.

BB2on the plus side, on this very day, issue #2 of Black and Blue is available on comixology for 2 bucks. so here, check it out. i’m not one for patreon. i don’t care for the concept. i’m not crapping on artists that have one, i’d just rather offer something in return. so if you enjoy, and you want to support the comic, by all means, check it out. i’ll be doing a print at some point in the future, but this is a digital release. and thanks for everyone that jumps in on it! and, if you don’t, tell a friend. a rich friend.

the nice thing that comixology does is add the guided view feature, and will allow you to read whatever you want when you’re offline. though, when they were bought by amazon, they removed their in app purchases. still, it’s a way that little guys like myself can rise above the torrential downpour of material put out by the big publishers. if even just for a moment.

and in commemoration of the new house (until the bank figures out i’m a deadbeat and someone severely screwed the pooch…) it’s…

houseofsandandfog‘House of Sand and Fog (2003)’

gotta love this movie. this is my favourite type of gut twisting flick. great character development, and the stage is set for a situation where pure heart wrenching terribleness happens. and no one is at fault…. or everyone is. point is, it comfortably sits on the grey expanse between black and white. not only does that feel very real, it feels relatable.

i won’t bother with a synopsis, just watch it if you get a chance. preferably when you’re too happy, and need something to bum you out.
