B&B-03just a quick post to let everyone know that issue #3 is now available here at comixology.

also, thanks to everyone who checked it out, posted or tweeted about it. i really appreciate the support! getting this ball rollin has been quite a task, but, i think i just felt it budge. a little bit.

seems to me that horror and thriller type movies are often about what’s going on in the world at the time of their making, despite the times that they are set in. godzilla played upon fear of atomic energy in a time after japan had suffered from a nuclear strike, dawn of the dead was a commentary on people becoming more mindless with growing consumerism, and attack of the killer tomatoes tapped into concerns for what genetically modified produce might bring (ok, no. but wouldn’t that be hilarious if it was true?) and would cloverfield really have been made if 9/11 didn’t happen?

so, i’m kinda looking forward to ‘purge:election year’. it’s a guilty pleasure of mine. slashers in general, but i think this kind of thing strikes a chord with us lately, because there seems to be alot of political uncertainty and rampant nationalism in the world right now. no one is saying we should set aside a whole night where were hunt poor people, but i did hear someone mention erecting a gigantic wall to keep a wild nation of… wait, was that game of thrones? must have been. i’m kinda curious how britain’s recent and spectacular nose dive into the concrete will effect the movies they produce.

green room red statehere’s a couple movies along the lines of what i was talking about. both could use more character development, but really, at their core, they’re about being feeling anxious watching someone else under the heel radical nutjobs.

they’re fun for what they are. neither are gonna win any awards from the academy, but if you want to see jean luc picard controlling an army of skinheads, what green room. if you want to see the last watchable movie kevin smith made before he became a cartoon of himself, and started making movies set in canada, when he’s clearly never met a canadian, watch read state.

so, it’s fun to be a ‘little’ afraid. let’s just hope the roller coaster doesn’t fly off the tracks.
